Wildfires are increasing becoming one of the biggest disasters leading to loss of lives (people and wildlife), property, livelihoods, habitats, change in ecosystems and economic losses. On 26th February, 2025 as part of the strategies to create a wildfire free landscape, Ecological Trends Alliance carried out a Training for Trainers who would train others in the prevention and management of wildfires
The training was well attended by National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA), National Forest Authority (NFA), Sugarcane Plantation companies, Community Conservation Groups, Farmers, Regional Police Fire brigade and District Local Government officials. The stakeholders were then hosted on a Radio Talk Show on Spice FM to create awareness on the occurrence and management of wildfires in the Budongo-Bugoma Landscape.
